Following this is a full itinerary via public transport that takes you to the Future Theater, the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art, and the Shiryokan, an important cultural asset and satellite venue of this year’s event.

② Family Fun Itinerary with Car

For visitors with young children looking to have some fun, first head to the Sapporo Art Museum, where “Nonsense Machines” will be on display created by Maywa Denki – an art unit that invents and performs one-of-a-kind musical instruments! Workshops and other events will also take place for all to enjoy on certain weekends of the exhibition period on a first-come, first-served basis. Outside at the Sapporo Art Park, you can also go on a “Kanjiki Walk,” a snowy stroll in traditional Japanese snowshoes (approx. 1 hr round trip).

If you are renting a vehicle from Sapporo Station, it will take about 35 minutes to get to the Sapporo Art Museum. We advise planning your trip in advance as journeys may take longer depending on weather conditions.

*This itinerary is recommended for those who have experience driving on snow-covered roads. If you feel at all unsure, please opt for public transport instead of driving.

We also recommend a visit to Moerenuma Park, where the snow storage space will be home to a limited-edition installation (weekends/holidays only) and visitors can take part in winter activities like sledding and snowshoeing outdoors in the park, with its beautiful ridges designed by renowned sculptor Isamu Noguchi!
